Umi Tea Sets – Lapsang Souchong Tea

A while back our bat received a very interesting message from a company called Umi Tea Sets. Now I know this usually is no big deal, but it’s our first time, so we were over the moon about it! Our excitement grew even more when we visited the amazing site they have! The products all look awesome, so we couldn’t wait to get our hands on some of them.

Shipping

The shipping did take a while to arrive. However, the timing isn’t the best to comment on shipping cos everything is taking twice as long to arrive, (not to mention it had to cross the world to get to our tiny island), so on the whole, it didn’t take any longer than I expected.

Packing

The little package was very well packed (you can see my struggles to open it here), first, there was styrofoam in the box filling the empty spaces, then the tiny teapot was protected with a bubble wrap and finally packed again in a thin jiffy foam. It looked really safe with precautions taken to protect the tiny lid as well.

The Tea

Tea Comparison

The tea was sealed away in a cute bag. As soon as I opened it I was surrounded by a sweet aroma, it was a real torture filming and waiting to taste the tea. The taste was just as good as the smell, it has a very earthy flavor and lacked that bitterness usually associated with tea altogether! It coated my throat gently in a very soothing and pleasant way, I think it’s ideal for when you have a sore throat or for people who use their voices more (like teachers or singers) or to hydrate in the hotter weather! It reminded me of artichokes, and I love artichokes so I was very pleased with this tea!!

Here is the video I was filming (It’s also my first video so: Hi all! This is me!), after that, we will do some comparisons, and answer one final question: Does the teapot really affect the taste?!

Now I tried comparing this tea to a regular tea bag black tea (since this is a black tea), and I simply can’t!! The look is totally different and the taste is just as different! The teabag tea is bitter and it attacks your throat, while the tea leaves are soothing and gentle, the taste is deep but delicate, it is harder to compare than it would be to compare tea and coffee!! Just enough to say that it didn’t even cross my mind to add anything to this tea, no wonder you don’t think of milk and sugar when you think of Chinese tea!!

The Teapot

Now as for the teapot, the difference isn’t THAT noticeable, however it DOES improve the taste. The difference is not visible to the eye, however, when I tried brewing a normal tea bag in it, it did mild down that bitterness, so, in a way, the teapot might be a better investment than the tea cos it can be used and reused with any tea you have! But as I said, the difference in taste between tea leaves and tea bags is much more noticeable, (I would bet that people who do not like tea and taste this, might become tea lovers!). When I tried the tea leaves with and without the teapot, again, the teapot did render it even deeper and less bitter than it was without the teapot. It is a slight difference, but it’s there, it’s noticeable and noticeable enough for me to know something was different when I took some more tea without the teapot before I did this back-to-back comparison.

Hope you found this review useful, I would like to thank Umi Tea Sets for this opportunity and I would like to encourage you to click the link below and give their site a look. (This, is actually NOT an affiliate link)
